A clear request for quotation helps a manufacturer review feasibility, select the right manufacturing route and prepare a more accurate quotation. For custom steel parts, the drawing and technical requirements should show what needs to be made and which details control the final result.
Start with the drawing files. PDF drawings are useful for review, while DWG, DXF or STEP files can provide production geometry when available. Include the part revision so that all parties work from the same information.
Define the material and dimensions. State the material grade or material specification, plate thickness, overall dimensions and required quantity. For assemblies, include the assembly drawing or bill of materials so that each component and its relationship can be reviewed.
Identify critical requirements. Mark dimensions, tolerances, holes, mounting surfaces and other features that affect function. State whether the part requires plate cutting, CNC machining, welding, assembly or a combination of these processes. Include surface treatment, inspection and packing requirements where they are known.
Choose the delivery stage. A buyer may require a cut blank, a machined part, a welded assembly or a more complete finished component. Defining the required stage helps coordinate cutting, machining, welding and final inspection through one manufacturing route.
